Grass Valley Veterinary Hospital is a full-service veterinary facility that specializes in the treatment of you dog and cat companions. We offer general and advanced medical care including wellness exams, preventative care, vaccinations, internal medicine, soft tissue and orthopedic surgery, spay and neuter, dentistry, and emergency services.
Because of the shorter lifespan of our pets, we stress the importance of an annual physical examination. Thorough check-ups and preventive care can help alleviate serious health problems. We offer a wide range of veterinary services to keep your companions feeling their best:
- Emergency Care
Dr. Dekker spent many years as an emergency veterinarian and is skilled at treating animals in crisis. Emergencies have priority at our hospital, and we will take emergency cases on a walk-in basis. Please call the main clinic line at 530-273-7272 for after-hours instructions.
- Diagnostic, Laboratory and Therapeutic Services
With technical advances in medicine, the capacity to diagnose and treat disease in animals has increased exponentially. We actively strive to stay “cutting edge” both in diagnosis and treatments. We have extensive diagnostic equipment including an in-house lab, digital x-ray, dental x-ray, and ultrasound. For unusual cases, we can draw on a wide variety of specialists to help us develop the most effective treatment plan.
- Surgical Services
Our state-of-the-art surgical suite provides for the performance of a wide variety of surgical procedures. When medically necessary, licensed and boarded veterinary surgeons from the Sacramento area perform specialized surgeries. We utilize the safest available anesthetics to provide an extra margin of safety, especially for our older or high-risk patients. Using the most modern equipment, the patient’s vital signs are monitored during all anesthetic procedures.
Our dental services include teeth cleaning and polishing, dental X-rays, tooth extractions and minor oral surgery.
- Permanent Identification
We offer microchip identification.
- Acupuncture and Chiropractic
We offer alternative treatment options for our patients, both as a complement to traditional Western medicine and when other treatments are not sufficient. Dr. Dekker has been certified by the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society as a veterinary acupuncturist.
- Individualized Flea-Control Programs
We develop programs for the specific needs of your pet and your own particular environmental situation. We will review with you the best ways to control fleas in your house, in your yard and on your pet.
- Dietary Counseling
We will provide guidance regarding your pet’s nutritional needs for each life stage, including dietary requirements for growth, weight maintenance and performance.
- Behavioral Counseling
We can provide advice regarding the correction of problems such as excessive barking, chewing, spraying, scratching, digging, house soiling and aggression.
We maintain a complete inventory of pharmaceuticals, vitamins, shampoos, flea and tick control products and heartworm preventatives to meet the needs of your pet. We also carry a full line of prescription diets. Additionally, we have an online pharmacy with access to over 17,000 pet items at competitive prices. Click here to go to our online pharmacy.
